Took a spill at mile 57. While riding through the Riverfront Park I went from concrete to gravel and tried to get back on the concrete and fell over. The lip of the concrete was higher than I thought and acted like a rail. Fell over onto the concrete on my right side. Injured my hip, elbow and ribs. I could still ride pain free but walking was a different story. The derailleur was bent but the bike was shifting OK for the moment.
At mile 80 the chain came off the largest cog. Was able to pull the chain from between the spokes and cog. Had to bend the derailleur hanger and assist the derailleur to get into a decent gear. I decided that I should pretend Old Yeller was my single speed and not change gears for the rest of the ride. And so that is what I did. Made it home 34 miles later. Fortunate that I was able to finish my 93rd century.
Man, am I sore. Will be interesting to see what becomes of this hip injury. Hopefully it heals quickly.
Ride on. ☮
